If you’re a Football fan, you’ll already know that the beautiful game has a habit of bringing people together in good times and bad. The game of Football has it’s critics, but a beautiful, yet touching story about a Father and Son going to the Football together will touch the hearts of many that aren’t necessarily a fan of the sport – this lead to one of our clients creating the venture of FootieWithDad!
Julian Reeback, the Founder of FootieWithDad experienced difficult times when his son was born 12 years ago. The first eleven months of Julian’s son’s life were spent in and out of Hospital, subsequently hanging in the balance – with the outcome looking bleak.
During many stressful, upsetting hours, days and nights, glued to the the boy’s bedside, one thought kept Julian going through the pain and struggle of it all.
Taking his son to watch a game at their beloved old home ground of Tottenham Hotspur’s White Hart Lane, envisaging a moment where Julian could hold his son aloft as they celebrated a Spurs win – it was a simple dream that the family hoped would one day become reality.
However, with the young lad’s condition in a critical state, the dream seemed far out of reach as time went on…
Thankfully, after numerous operations he became stronger and it wasn’t long before Julian’s son was able to come home for the first time and meet the family properly. The good news brought Julian’s dream back to the forefront of his mind and realised the immense possibility of taking his son to the football was very much that – possible!
As a result, FootieWithDad was born!
Three years ago the pair headed to their first football match together and they’ve not looked back ever since. Julian spent most of the match not watching the game, but watching his son to see if there was real enjoyment of his first ever Football spectacle.
Two seasons ago the Father and Son set off on their first ever away game together at Newcastle United’s, St James Park. Despite the early 6am start, long trip home and their team losing heavily to The Toon Army, Julian asked his son the brave question of whether his boy enjoyed it.
The reply was one that touched Julian: “Dad – win, lose or draw I love my football days with you, can we try going to every away game next season please?” – Julian’s son said.
